RED V RAPTOR [X]

From September 13 to 16 RED Digital Cinema, now in the hands of the group Nikon, will carry out demonstrations at IBC 2024 with its V-Raptor XL [X] and V-Raptor [X] large-format global shutter cinema cameras, as well as the new RED Cine-Broadcast module, designed for television productions and live events.

The CEO of RED Digital Cinema, Keiji Oishi, highlights that "our commitment to pushing the boundaries of image capture technology and bringing the cinematic aspect of RED to television is truly exciting. We can't wait to connect with our friends and community at IBC, hear their insights, and show how we are shaping the future of visual storytelling."

At IBC, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the new V-Raptor [X] and V-Raptor XL [X] large format cinema camera systems. RED Global Vision, powered by a global shutter sensor, offers unprecedented capabilities to shoot the most natural and organic images possible. The mode Extended Highlights Global Vision enables the camera to capture color and highlight detail more effectively, providing smoother, more subtle highlight dimming, even in difficult lighting conditions and uncontrollable environments.

V-Raptor systems excel in low light circumstances, offering a dynamic range of more than 20 stops to capture subtle details and nuances, while preserving color fidelity and accuracy.

The new global shutter sensor includes the Phantom Track dual capture technology. This feature simplifies virtual production setups that they use GhostFrame or frame remapping by allowing the camera to capture two different scenes (R3D clips) with a single camera. It also supports live monitoring of any two live views on set.

RED Broadcast Module

RED Cine-Broadcast Module

As for the new new RED Cine-Broadcast module, it is compatible with the V-Raptor XL [X], V-Raptor [X] and standard V-Raptor and V-Raptor XL camera systems. Allows the live broadcast of up to two 4K 60P channels (HDR/SDR) via 12G-SDI and is IP broadcast ready with SMPTE ST 2110 (TR-08) and up to a 4K 60P JPEG-XS. The module features a LEMO SMPTE 311M/304M hybrid fiber optic cable connector, which connects to a 2R Full Rack or 4R Half Rack rack-mount base station.

Broadcasters can unlock advanced workflows with slow motion, AI/ML augmentation and direct to headphones using R3Ds 8K 120FPS via RED License enabled RED Connect feature.

The new option Broadcast Color Pipeline RED for the DSMC3 range of cameras will allow live painting of RED cameras in broadcast or streaming environments, as well as making on-demand adjustments and grading multiple cameras using traditional broadcast controls. The new firmware-enabled functionality uses industry-standard RCPs to control painting parameters in real time over IP, while saving per-frame information in the recorded file metadata. This new option comes as a standard firmware update for all V-Raptor and V-Raptor X variants.

RED will be co-located with Nikon and its Nikon Group partner Mark Roberts Motion Control (MRMC) in Hall 11, Booth C28, where RED demos will include the Cine-Broadcast demo with V-RAPTOR XL [X] alongside lenses Fujinon Duvo HZK14-100mm, RED Cine Broadcast Module + Base Station, Broadcast color workflow y Cyanview RCP.
