The call is open for the 5th edition of Next Lab Generation: VR, XR, AR…

The call for the 5th edition of the workshop Next Lab Generation, aimed at animation projects that want to experiment with the use of VR, XR and AR tools along with the use of real-time rendering engines and AI tools for animation prototyping and production, is now open.

Next Lab Generation face your 5th edition willing to continue focusing on incorporation of innovative tools to expedite the animation production processes. The organization of the event has just opened its call for projects, in which productions of fiction with a high content of animation o VFX.

In this edition, the call will especially value those projects related to video games, giving space to the intro y game trailers; in addition to projects whose IP has its origin in a video game. Betting on the growth of the workshop in each edition and maintaining the philosophy of taking advantage of the most innovative technologies, the tools that will be used during the workshop will be mainly Quill y Blender Eevee, prior knowledge of both is not necessary since they will be taught during Next Lab Generation.

The proposals presented may be headed by a persona or for a work team, and projects of any nationality will be accepted. On the other hand, it is necessary that the project has a minimal visual development. Each selected project will carry out this workshop, whose place has a value of €6,000 that participants can enjoy for free. The registration period will be open until 11:59 p.m. (Mexico time) on December 13, 2024.

Taught by professionals and experts in the sector, the workshop will repeat the structure of past editions with a phase online from January 7 to February 23, and a second in-person phase which will be held in Madrid from February 24 to March 1. Only six of the projects They will be selected for the face-to-face phase, depending on the work performed during the online phase of the workshop and the evaluation of your pitch y audiovisual piece. To be part of the second phase it will be essential to have completed all the deliveries of the first phase.

In the development of workshop, the participants will be able to carry out in a few weeks a teaser of their project that they will have the opportunity to present during the Next Lab Generation event in Madrid, on February 28 and March 1, 2025. A jury made up of professionals from the audiovisual sector will choose the three winners, who will receive professional accreditation for Annecy MIFA 2025, in addition to the opportunity to make a pitch within the conference Next Lab Generation.
