FHNW - AJA - Bridge Live - rack

The Durand Cup, one of India's largest annual football tournaments, has allowed KPS Studios perfect your remote workflow, built around solutions like Bridge Live or the OG-12G-AMA 16-channel openGear audio embedder/de-embedder from AJA.

Teams of the I-League, the Indian league and the Indian armed forces participate in the Copa Durand, one of the oldest football tournaments in India. To tackle this ambitious production, KPS Studios brought together a team of more than 150 personas, between producers, directors, camera operators, sound engineers and broadcasting engineers, who were distributed in the six headquarters of the tournament.

Taking advantage of multiple cameras at each venue, KPS Studios transmitted high-definition images to a main control room in Calcutta, where his team processed the footage and added slow-motion replays, graphics, and commentary. He then distributed the images to Sony TV for linear broadcast, as well as streaming applications Sony LIV and SSEN, and social platforms.

Thanks to Bridge Live, the KPS team was able to easily switch between SRT y H.265, as explained Rajiv Mehra, technical director and managing director of the production company: "Because Bridge Live supports processing, conversion and transmission of low-latency signals over long distances, we were able to transmit live sequences from each location to the control room of our production facilities in milliseconds and using less bandwidth, given the efficiency of H.265. At the same time, we could transcode high-quality signals for television broadcasts and streaming. Bridge Live is an affordable and reliable solution that offers incredible encoding, decoding and transcoding, as well as being easy to use, which made it easy to integrate into our workflow.”

Since the equipment had to produce the signal for its distribution in several languages, they also used the analog audio keying/dekeying card openGear OG-12G-AMA 16 channels from AJA. "It's easy to use, offers high-quality, cost-effective analog audio embedding capabilities, and is compatible with the rest of our equipment. We can embed eight audio channels with the OG-12G-AMA, while most other solutions on the market only support four, which is increasingly important as we take on the task of embedding more languages into an SDI feed. I also love the openGear form factor because it gives us a flexible, scalable, plug-and-play solution for our signal processing needs that we can easily integrate into our pipeline, and with less wiring and fewer boxes,” he explains.

KPS Studios plans expand your remote production capabilities and based on the cloud in the coming years. Mehra says: "Remote production is clearly the future and can provide huge cost savings, while reducing the carbon footprint of a production. And the adoption of 4K workflows is on the rise, which means SMPTE ST 2110 IP video will soon be necessary. Although we stream in HD today, we know we will have to move to 4K, and coaxial cable cannot provide the bandwidth that an IP network can. This year we are actively looking at how to incorporate SMPTE 2110 to our network.”
