CallMe, remote connectivity feature for Røde consoles, enters beta phase
Røde CallMe beta phase begins, feature for RødeCaster Pro II and RødeCaster Duo (Red) developed in collaboration with Vortex Communications which allows fluid remote connectivity with consoles and guests via browser.
Red CallMe seeks to offer communication low latency y high fidelity through Wi-Fi o Ethernet, without the need for third-party software. The feature has been developed to respond to the growing offshoring needs of audio productions, whether podcasts with a guest “on the other side of the world” or a remote broadcast.
Its operation is simple: after generating an invitation using a QR code or email, the Røde console can connect with another Red Caster or with a guest via browser, without the need for any additional configuration. Once the connection is made, the Audio flows in both directions, including microphones, USB devices and sound pads and an automatic mix minus is applied, so echoes are avoided. You can also adjust the gain and apply all the channel processing, EQ, effects Aphex, noise gate and more, delivering studio-quality sound.
This function, which comes into open beta phase, will arrive soon as a free firmware update, although it comes in three optional paid levels: Red CallMe Lite, included in the free firmware update; Red CallMe, which during the beta testing period will be accessed from the free update, and Red CallMe Pro.
This latest model, designed for broadcast engineers, radio producers and remote teams, will offer 3 simultaneous CallMe channels, unlimited connection time between RØDECasters, full browser calling access, advanced SIP calling, full codec control and third-party interoperability with IP audio codes.
