Grass Valley Network Infraestructure

The new solutions of Grass Valley for gateway, orchestration, multi-display and routing, along with AMPP integrations from GVMU Partners, will be showcased at the company's IBC 2025 booth.

Visitors to its stand at the RAI Center in Amsterdam will be able to check out the range of products designed to offer broadcasters and media companies the freedom to evolve at their own pace. From connecting legacy and IP workflows to ensuring resiliency across regions, Grass Valley's latest innovations deliver agility, scalability and operational confidence for the most demanding productions in the world.

At the heart of Grass Valley networking products is the new ACE-3901 card, a powerful software-defined agile calculation engine for platform Density Modular. The ACE-3901 transforms legacy infrastructure into a modern, hybrid-ready environment. With up to 32× 12G-SDI or 64× 3G-SDI per card and 400 Gb/s bandwidth, it delivers high-density, ultra-low latency signal processing in a compact form factor.

For existing SDI installations, the ACE-3901 provides an access path to ST2110 with the ACE-3901-IO application, which offers the highest density on the market. The ACE-3901-GRID application goes even further by integrating its high-performance FPGA-based resources directly into AMPP, increasing server resources with ACE-3901 cards, seamlessly combining the best of both worlds and supporting up to 192 inputs and outputs per 4RU rack to connect to single-node and multi-node AMPP GRID clusters.

ACE-3901 naturally provides the Integrated auto detection and telemetry through the orchestration platform GV Orbit to ensure faster, smarter and more resilient routing decisions.

Lee Buchanan, vice president of networks at Grass Valley, notes that "we have an exciting story to tell about our networking solutions at this year's IBC. The ACE-3901 is the winning card that breaks the limitations of your current installations, allowing you to work seamlessly in SDI, IP or AMPP environments and realize the growth ambitions of your productions. With our portfolio of networking products, we demonstrate that media companies don't have to give up what they have today to reach new levels of storytelling prowess."

It will also be presented at IBC 2025 MV-1200-RTR, and 6RU Native 12G-SDI Modular Router which also works as a multiviewer. Scalable up to 160 × 160 I/O, it provides native UHD routing with integrated multiviewer engines supporting up to 16 displays and 512 PiP per display. With frame synchronization, MADI audio options and direct-attach hardware control panels, it offers the power of a large router in a small, efficient chassis, ideal for mobile units, regional studios, esports stadiums and educational facilities.

Smarter Hybrid Workflows

As part of the continued expansion of AMPP ecosystem, Grass Valley introduces two powerful new features that offer customers even more elasticity, flexibility and cost control in their productions.

AMPP hub is a new enhancement to the AMPP control plane that keeps workflows fast and resilient. Distributed solutions often require control messages to be routed through the cloud, introducing unnecessary control latency, but with the addition of AMPP Hub, those messages are handled locally whenever possible. This reduces latency, saves bandwidth, and ensures operations remain responsive even if cloud connectivity is unexpectedly interrupted. The result is production operations that feel as immediate and reliable as you would expect from an on-site solution, with all the elasticity of AMPP behind them.

For the most demanding productions, AMPP Multi-Region Resilience Expand that power with active redundancy across all regions. Continuous state reflection and policy-based failover provide confidence that operations will continue smoothly, even in the face of regional outages or planned maintenance. Productions stay live, protected and ready, regardless of what's happening in the background.

Together, these new capabilities reinforce AMPP as the industry's most advanced software-defined manufacturing platform, giving customers the agility to produce anywhere with unmatched elasticity and efficiency.

Additionally, Grass Valley presents the multipantalla Kaleido-IP X Professional, powered by AMPP, designed for the most demanding live productions and remote workflows. With scalable multi-node workflows enabled by AMPP Grid, Kaleido-IP Operators can view all major SDI, ST 2110 and IP sources compressed together on one flexible canvas, eliminating the need for separate systems.

Grass Valley will also welcome its latest GVMU Alliance partners to its booth in Amsterdam, three of which will showcase new network and orchestration integrations with AMPP. Skyline Communications will demonstrate how its xOPs platform orchestrates AMPP and more than 800 additional applications, while scheduling online and offline resources and monitoring the entire production chain, empowering AMPP as the core of an end-to-end solution and enabling complex productions to adapt to production needs.

Layercake will present its template-based orchestration and scheduling of Grass Valley AMPP solutions, third-party applications and computing, through its Streamcake solution, which enables customers to easily and cost-effectively adopt cloud-based remote production and distribution.

Finally, TSL will be present at the booth with TSL AMPP Portal, GVO Tally and TSL control panels. TSL solutions can provide expanded protocol integrations between AMPP and legacy third-party products and hardware, helping to further simplify customer adoption and migration to AMPP and software-defined workflows.

“Our expanded portfolio, integrated with strategic alliance partners, demonstrates that modernization does not have to mean starting from scratch,” Buchanan emphasizes. “With gateways that protect existing investments, orchestration that makes hybrid workflows seamless, multiviewers that simplify monitoring, and routers that save space without compromising quality, Grass Valley and our alliance partners offer the tools broadcasters need to accelerate storytelling without losing resilience and profitability.”

Dante an AMPP

Grass Valley Adds Native Dante Support to AMPP

Grass Valley will integrate native Dante audio networking into its AMPP (Agile Media Processing Platform), thanks to a new strategic collaboration with Audinate, pioneer of the Dante AV-over-IP platform. This association provides a Seamless Dante connectivity directly to AMPP, allowing users to discover, manage and route Dante audio streams without the need for external hardware. With support for up to 128x128 bi-directional channels and latency as low as 1 ms, the integration delivers robust audio capabilities into any AMPP-driven workflow.

By incorporating Dante into AMPP, Grass Valley enables a agile, software-defined audio routing that adapts to the demands of modern production, whether in a studio, on location or in the cloud. The new functionality is fully integrated into the AMPP microservices architecture and is deployed, scaled, and managed like any other AMPP service. This allows operators to mix Dante sources with other IP audio formats within the GV Media Universe.

For the first time, Dante I/O is available through AMPP's flexible licensing model, offering hourly and monthly subscription options. This provides customers with instant, cost-effective access to professional audio networks, enabling rapid deployment for short-term productions, seasonal events or dynamic scaling needs.
