The 2026 Goya Awards admit 219 feature films to the competition

The Film Academy confirms that a total of 219 feature films, all of them released in Spain between January 1 and December 31, 2025, will aspire to achieve the long-awaited nomination that will lead them to be at the gala of the next February 28. Goya Awards 2026 which Barcelona City will host.

Of these 219 productions, 123 are fictional, 87 are documentaries y 9 are animation. Continuing the dissection of the data, of them, 67 are debut works. Regarding the registered scripts, 130 are original and 42 adapted. They also attend this year 18 European films y 15 Ibero-American feature films, films that in both categories have been chosen by their respective countries.

In the section of the short films, the list amounts to 48 titles: 15 fiction short films, 18 documentaries and 15 animation. The complete list is available, here.

After passing through Seville, Málaga, Valencia, Valladolid and Granada, the Goya Awards will return to Barcelona, a city that already hosted the ceremony in 2000, thus becoming the first time that the awards were presented outside of Madrid. On this occasion, the gala promises to combine spectacle, music and tribute to cinema with the charisma of Luis Tosar and Rigoberta Bandini as hosts.
