AIMS takes a decisive step towards IPMX (Internet Protocol Media Experience) certification
Organized together with VSF, AMWA and EBU, Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) will organize from January 19 to 23, 2026 an event that seeks to validate the first batch of IPMX-compatible products.
AIMS, together with Video Services Forum (VSF), Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA) and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU/EBU), organize the first official testing and certification event for IPMX (Internet Protocol Media Experience) products. This event, which represents an important milestone for the IPMX initiative, will take place on January 19 to 23, 2026 at the EBU headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, as the EBU has played an important role in the development and adoption of open media standards in the broadcasting industry.
For the first time, manufacturers will have the opportunity to complete formal certification of products manufactured to the IPMX set of specifications for professional media over IP. Certified products may carry the IPMX mark, indicating their compliance with a set of rigorously verified transport and interoperability requirements.
Over the past year, AIMS, VSF and AMWA have overseen a series of technical preparation sessions, plug fests and development activities of test suites that have laid the foundation for this certification program. The January 2026 event is the culmination of that work and represents IPMX's transition from a developing specification to a certifiable and deployable technology.
Recine himself, chair of the AIMS IPMX Pro AV working group, acknowledges that "we are very proud and excited to organize this event together with our partners at VSF, AMWA and EBU. Certification is an essential step for any open standard that promises interoperability between suppliers. This event is where IPMX moves from theory to practice. Products tested in Geneva will be the first to demonstrate verified compliance with IPMX specifications."
IPMX is a set of open standards and specifications designed to bring the media transport based on ST 2110 and the NMOS based control to a broader range of markets, including Pro AV, live events, corporate media, education and more. IPMX adds essential features tailored to Pro AV workflows, such as support for compressed video, simplified system synchronization, HDCP, and system profiles to make deployment more convenient and scalable. The certification program is intended to ensure that products carrying the IPMX designation offer a reliable interoperability, predictable behavior and compliance with the series of TR-10 specifications published.
