Blackmagic Design is once again the protagonist at Sundance, participating in 45 projects
More than 45 feature films, documentaries and series participating in the 2026 edition of the Sundance Dinner Festival have chosen various models of cinematographic cameras Blackmagic Design and DaVinci Resolve Studio, editing, grading, FVX and audio post-production software.
Among these projects stand out FreeLance y Jaripeo, which were filmed with cameras Blackmagic Design, as well as the highly anticipated films Carousel, I Want Your Sex, Undertone y Union County. In these last projects, it was used DaVinci Resolve Studio to coordinate various phases of its post-production.
This is the complete list of formats made with Blackmagic Design cameras and equipment in production:
- Buddy – Cinematographer Zach Kuperstei used DaVinci Resolve Studio to create distinctive visual styles for each of the worlds featured in the film. To do this, he precisely simulated the appearance obtained with the analog television cameras of the nineties and the three-strip Technicolor; He also used Micro Converter devices to project the simulation correctly in the studio, using resizing and masking effects.
- FreeLance – Director of photography Tyler Clark used the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro in several shots.
- Ghost in the Machine – Cinematographer Valerie Veatch used DaVinci Resolve for finishing and color shaping.
- Ha-chan, Shake Your Booty! – Daniel Satinoff, director of photography, used DaVinci Resolve to develop conversion tables and copy, as well as the Blackmagic Video Assist 7″ 3G monitor and recorder for playback.
- The Huntress – Digital imaging technician Erick Magaña used the HyperDeck model, the DaVinci Resolve Studio program and the DaVinci Resolve Micro Panel device.
- I Want Your Sex – Cinematographer Tucker Korte used DaVinci Resolve for color management in the studio.
- Jaripeo – Josué Eber Morales, director of photography, used the Pocket Cinema Camera 6K model.
- The Musical – Cinematographer Tu Do used DaVinci Resolve to create conversion tables, while assistant editor Nicole Acevedo used DaVinci Resolve to clone footage, synchronize prints, record metadata, and transcode lower-resolution duplicates for rough editing.
- Nuisance Bear – Cinematographer and colorimetry consultant Ian Kerr used DaVinci Resolve Studio on location to view prints, check stabilization effectiveness, and perform noise reduction tests.
- Seized – Digital imaging technician and colorist Cory Cullen used Video Assist 7” 12G HDR and Mini Converter SDI Distribution devices for recording material broadcast from the courthouse by press crews, as well as an ATEM Mini Pro ISO switcher for isolated recordings that were provided to local news stations.
- Soft Boil – Cinematographer Robin Webster used DaVinci Resolve Studio for the prints.
- Take Me Home – Cinematographer Farhad Ahmed Dehlvi used a Video Assist 7” 3G device for in-studio monitoring, as well as DaVinci Resolve Studio for visual style development during pre-production and creating a conversion table for in-studio monitoring and copy.
- When A Witness Recants – Cinematographer Bryan Gentry used DaVinci Resolve Studio to develop the look of the documentary, as well as UltraStudio Monitor 3G and UltraStudio Recorder 3G capture and playback devices for live grading.
As for those feature films and series that used Blackmagic tools to editing and visual effects:
- Carousel – Editor Ryan Kendrick used DaVinci Resolve Studio for VFX delivery and clip management.
- Ha-chan, Shake Your Booty! – VFX Supervisor Alex Noble (Wild Union Post) used DaVinci Resolve Studio to create VFX.
- I Want Your Sex – Editor Gregg Araki and co-editor Victor De La Parra used DaVinci Resolve Studio and the Blackmagic Cloud platform to fully edit the film.
- If I Go Will They Miss Me – Editors Daysha Broadway and Walter Thompson carried out the complete editing of the film in DaVinci Resolve Studio.
- Kikuyu Land – Editor Andrew H. Brown used DaVinci Resolve Studio for rough editing, shaping and mastering.
- Levitating (The Possessors) – Editor Ahmad Yuniardi used DaVinci Resolve Studio to create proxy files, as well as an UltraStudio Monitor 3G device.
- The Musical – Editor Chris Chandler turned to the UltraStudio 4K Mini to stream the signal to a designated monitor.
- Nuisance Bear – Editor Andres Landau and his assistant editor used DaVinci Resolve Studio on location to create copy, add conversion tables, synchronize cameras, and more. For his part, Landau also used this program for the final editing, credits, visual effects and finishing. The UltraStudio Monitor 3G model also facilitated the playback tasks of the studio monitoring system by transmitting the signal to the monitors during preliminary editing.
- Saccharine – Editor Sean Lahiff used an UltraStudio 4K Mini device for content capture and playback.
- TheyDream – 3D animation director Brad Jones used DaVinci Resolve Studio as part of the visual effects workflow, including Fusion tools and graphics animations for compositing.
- Tuner – Rocket Science VFX company used DaVinci Resolve Studio to manage VFX input and output.
- Undertone – VFX artist Brian Hamilton (Jupiter Spin) used Fusion Studio for this project.
