BCE begins the development of cloud-based multimedia services with Scaleway infrastructure
The strategic alliance signed between Broadcasting Center Europe (BCE) y Scaleway will focus on the development and management of customized cloud multimedia services to meet the performance, security and sovereignty requirements of the main European broadcasters.
The alliance is the result of a technical evaluation phase during which BCE successfully validated certain multimedia workloads on Scaleway's European cloud infrastructure. The results, explains BCE, confirm the platform suitability for production-grade multimedia environments, including performance, scalability and operational stability.
Through this collaboration, BCE and Scaleway will design and industrialize jointly cloud-native multimedia services that address key use cases, such as content processing, distribution and storage. The alliance combines BCE's experience in multimedia workflows, integration of systems and managed services with Scaleway's cloud infrastructure, which operates exclusively in Europe.
The resulting services will be designed to support critical multimedia operations for the business, while ensuring compliance with European regulatory frameworks, data protection requirements and sovereignty restrictions. Beyond infrastructure consumption, the partnership includes close collaboration on defining architecture, operating models, security frameworks and service evolution, focusing on real-world production constraints and long-term scalability.
As explained Sylvain Merle, CTO of BCE: "This partnership reflects our ambition to create cloud-based media services that are operationally robust and aligned with European sovereignty expectations. Scaleway's cloud platform demonstrated great technical maturity during the evaluation phase, allowing us to confidently move towards production use cases."
Alexia Boulot, vice president of product at Scaleway, adds: "Multimedia services place demanding requirements on cloud platforms in terms of performance, availability and security. Working with BCE allows us to further involve our infrastructure in production-oriented multimedia workloads and contribute to the development of sovereign cloud services for the multimedia industry."
