The Film Academy reaches a historical membership record with more than 3,000 professionals

The Film Academy exceeds 3,000 members, a milestone that, in the words of the institution, demonstrates both the cinema community and its role as a “meeting point, representation and dialogue for the sector.”

Since its creation on January 8, 1986, when 87 professionals signed the founding act, the institution has evolved in parallel to its own film industry. From that initial impulse the Film Academy was born, which today already has more than 3,000 members and consolidates itself as a platform to promote cultural projects, development programs for filmmakers and all types of educational initiatives.

For the institution, growth accounts for the plurality of an industry in constant transformation. Today, the Academy has diverse profiles from the 15 specialties, as well as associated professions that dialogue with the audiovisual field.

The Academy also maintains a wide territorial implementation, with presence in different autonomous communities and different countries. This open character, the Academy emphasizes, reinforces its ability to connect Spanish cinema with professionals established in other territories, generating networks, exchanges and opportunities that “enrich the cultural and professional fabric.”
