The role of AI

Avid will also demonstrate how AI-powered content intelligence within Avid Content Core improves how teams discover, manage and develop content, leveraging Avid's deep understanding of media assets and workflows.

Key content intelligence capabilities include faster content discovery through the AI-powered semantic search in newsroom systems, creative tools and media storage, as well as greater content context by connecting scripts, media, versions and results across the entire production lifecycle. They also allow better access to related content for find previously produced assets, versions and materials across systems, helping to reduce manual effort through AI-assisted workflows that automate repetitive tasks without letting teams lose control. Together, these innovations in content intelligence help newsrooms optimize and scale production without increasing complexity.

Designed to work in hybrid environments, Avid for News allows teams to work seamlessly in on-premises or cloud-based systems, without the need for costly migrations or changes to workflows.

Avid Content Core ReviewAt the show, Avid shows how businesses can extend their current environments with cloud-enabled capabilities, including storage solution integrations Avid Nexis and Avid Stream IO, the newly updated video ingest and output solution. These integrations enable more flexible and distributed production, while maintaining the performance, reliability and control needed for professional news operations. Stream IO also now includes subclip creation and content trimming, giving operators greater control and accelerating rapid delivery workflows.

Ultimately, with Avid Content Core at its core, Avid for News enables modernization without disrupting critical day-to-day operations, because rather than requiring a complete system replacement, it integrates with existing tools and infrastructure, allowing organizations to evolve incrementally, reduce risk and accelerate adoption, while continuing to derive value from the systems they already rely on.

Google Gemini con Media Composer

Agreement with Google

Avid and Google Cloud have announced in Las Vegas a multi-year strategic alliance to Integrate generative and agentive AI into creative tools by Avid. TOl integrate Gemini and Vertex AI models from Google directly into Avid solutions, the collaboration aims to transform video editing from a largely manual process into an intelligent AI-assisted experience, significantly reducing the time required for media search and production.

As global demand for content increases, production teams face increasing pressure to handle massive volumes of high-resolution media while overcoming the limitations of legacy on-premise hardware. To address these challenges, Avid is integrating Google Cloud's AI and data analytics capabilities into two key areas of its technology stack: Media Composer, the industry standard non-linear editing system for professional film and television; and Avid Content Core, a new cloud-native SaaS platform that acts as a unified and intelligent data layer for global media assets.

By leveraging Gemini and Vertex AI, these platforms can now analyze and understand media context automatically, allowing production teams to query content using natural language. It also enables agentive AI workflows: digital assistants capable of autonomously managing complex tasks, such as matching visual styles, identifying emotional cues in raw footage, and optimizing metadata registration.

Avid CEO Wellford Dillard, recognizes that "customers demand intelligent tools that integrate into existing workflows and adapt to their creativity. This partnership with Google Cloud strengthens our ability to deliver secure, AI-driven innovation, while maintaining Avid's interoperability and adaptability in the overall production landscape. Through our collaboration with Google Cloud, Avid is redefining what is possible in modern multimedia production by expanding intelligent capabilities across all of our products."

Anil Jain, global general manager of Strategic Industries at Google Cloud, says that "by integrating agentive AI directly into the tools that video editors use, we go beyond simple automation. With Avid Media Composer and Google Cloud, an editor can now collaborate with an intelligent agent to create assets on the fly and take care of the arduous task of matching styles and filling timelines, allowing them to focus on storytelling instead of infrastructure."

Avid Content Core introduces a cloud-native platform that acts as a unified data layer for global media; by taking advantage BigQuery, Vision Warehouse y Vertex AI Search de Google Cloud, transforms passive storage into an active library, allowing creative teams to access and manage video files from anywhere. Likewise, the integration of Gemini into Media Composer incorporates a multimodal extension powered by this technology in Avid's industry-standard editing system, allowing editors to streamline post-production—from intelligent metadata enhancement and automated logging to footage generation—and reduce manual burden. Added to this is agentic search and discovery, which, thanks to Vertex AI and to the Gemini multimodal models present on both platforms, they allow systems to understand the context of each file and transform the search into a natural conversation in which users describe what they need (based on visual actions, dialogues or emotional signals), reducing weeks of manual searching to seconds of automated information. Together, these AI capabilities lay the foundation for future agentic integrations across Avid's portfolio, aimed at streamlining post-production and allowing creative teams to focus on higher-value storytelling.

PSE con Media Composer

Integration with Pro Sound Effects

Recorded sound effects from Pro Sound Effects (PSE) will be natively integrated into Avid Media Composer, making PSE the first and only sound effects platform to offer this capability.

The new integration gives video editors and post-production professionals direct access to the PSE library, with more than 1.2 million sounds, without leaving the Media Composer interface. Developed using Avid's Media Composer Panel SDK, this results in a faster, fully licensed sound effects workflow, from rough first edits to final cut, a critical advantage for post-production teams working to tight deadlines on feature films, scripted television series and streaming content.

The integration also connects with PSE's free, cross-platform desktop app, SoundQ, allowing teams to browse, search and organize sounds from their internal sound effects libraries on local, network or cloud storage (such as Avid Nexis), and import them into Media Composer containers with metadata intact.

Bradford Swanson, Product Manager at Pro Sound Effects, acknowledges that “we are proud to be the first sound effects platform to offer this tight integration with Avid Media Composer.”

“It's great to see that Avid Media Composer editors have, for the first time, in-editor access to a huge library of professional sound effects at their fingertips with the new Pro Sound Effects extension,” he says. Ray Thompson, senior director of international partners and alliances at Avid. “Now editors can increase their efficiency and enjoy greater creative flexibility by leveraging PSE in the editor, allowing them to stay creative with a broad set of sound tools spanning categories from A to Z.”
