React Native: Norigin Media's solution to improve remote control navigation on Smart TV
NAB 2026 hosts the first demos of the React Native library, a solution for Norigin Media which seeks to make remote control navigation more intuitive for the native Apple TV and Android TV platforms.
This free and unified technology stack allows software engineers to create applications for Smart TV with intuitive directional navigation between content using remote controls. The library Norigin Spatial Navigation, which already supported web-based Smart TV apps on devices Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, Vizio and Hisense VIDAA, is used by “the main” television networks and OTT services around the world to develop their own applications for Smart TVs and video game consoles.
The launch ratifies the mission of Norigin Media to provide the industry with standardized and open source technologies to help broadcasters “save time and costs” in the development of cross-platform streaming applications. In the words of Ajay Anand, CEO: "Developing applications for CTV is complicated, and our remote control and key navigation solution helps simplify these challenges while enabling a consistent UI/UX. As platforms like Apple TV, Roku, Samsung Tizen and others continue to evolve, we offer tools that facilitate efficient OTT application development."
Broadcasters and OTT service owners can now leverage Norigin Media's React Native library to develop apps with aico code for both Apple TV how to Android TV. The library also improves the accessibility and the browsing patterns across devices.
