Netflix begins filming 'The Approach of the Cactus Woman and the Balloon Man'

Based on the adaptation of the novel by David Martínez Álvarez, Rayden, Netflix, next to Saturday Team, has begun filming 'The Approach of the Cactus Woman and the Balloon Man', a new original film starring Macarena García and Carlos Cuevas, directed by Kike Maíllo.

The film tells the story of Sáhara, a brilliant and ironic florist played by Macarena García, who has turned cynicism into her defense mechanism against love. In parallel, Ciro (played by Carlos Cuevas) works as a bicycle delivery man and lives convinced that any sentimental connection ends up causing harm. An accidental encounter on the streets of Madrid will cause both characters to cross paths again while trying to avoid becoming emotionally involved. Eva Llorach, Santiago Korovsky and Silma López complete the cast of the film.

The project adapts Rayden's novel of the same name and reinforces Netflix's commitment to Spanish productions with vocation to connect with young adult audiences through urban and contemporary stories. The script is written by Enrique Navarro and the production is led by Sábado Time, with Toni Carrizosa and Araceli Pérez-Rastrilla as executive producers.

Consolidation of Sábado Time

The film represents a new strategic step for Sábado Time, a Barcelona production company born from the integration of Sábado Movies and Playtime Movies after more than a decade of collaboration. In recent years, the production company has consolidated an editorial line linked to both commercial cinema and streaming platforms.
