Danish company Nordija, whose business focus is on providing Pay TV services to private companies, has been acquired by 24i, which specializes in end-to-end video streaming.

During its 20-year history, Nordija has worked for companies such as Telenor Sweden, TET (formerly Lattelecom), Vodafone Iceland, T-Mobile Netherlands, Swisscom Broadcast, Waoo, Boingo Wireless, ZAP in sub-Saharan Africa and SETAR in the Caribbean.

Joachim Bergman, CEO of 24i, has highlighted among Nordija’s main virtues its “solid customer base, the stability of its platform and the professionalism of its staff”. He also points out that its commitment to Television as a Service (TVaaS) will allow them to continue advancing in the development of their business model.

Growing market

Nordija’s CEO, Thomas Christensen, has become 24i’s CTO and head of TV platforms. In his first statements as part of 24i he has positively assessed the agreement: “Nordija was founded on the conviction that great solutions come from great collaboration. We are very happy to start our collaboration with the 24i team. Culturally, 24i and Nordija are a great fit and by joining forces we will be able to accelerate the pace of development of our combined platform to meet the needs of increasingly demanding video consumers.”

Bergman, in a closing statement, emphasized that his goal is to “help assist in helping our customers successfully navigate the changing demands of the pay-TV and OTT markets.” “The convergence of pay-TV and streaming presents many opportunities, and with 24i’s 12-year track record in streaming coupled with Nordija’s 20+ years in pay-TV, we form an unbeatable team. The combination of our expertise and experience will bring real commercial advantages to our clients, allowing them to worry less about technology and focus more on what they do best: creating and curating great content to delight their subscribers and viewers,” he concluded.
