Aicox Soluciones supplies two camera links and a point-to-point transportable link for TVE's new HD mobile unit. The novelty of the system is the use of DVB-S2 modulation for the first time in Spain.

gigawaveThe British digital radio link manufacturer GigaWave has been chosen by Televisión Española to supply the first high definition digital links that the Corporation will have. These links are for the new high definition mobile unit that is currently under construction.

Specifically, these are two camera links in a dual-way reception Clip On configuration. The cameras chosen by TVE are the Sony HDC 1550 and will also be controlled by the Gigawave telemetry system. Even though it is a compact camera, Gigawave offers an elegant mechanical integration solution for anchoring the data transmitter and receiver. The point-to-point link chosen will be an MVL-D2 in a redundant two-way configuration.

The novelty of the system is the use of DVB-S2 modulation for the first time in Spain. DVB-S2 modulation technology applied to terrestrial links allows for more efficient use of bandwidth and the possibility of achieving very high Bit Rates on a single carrier. Specifically, the new MVL-D2 link allows rates of up to 90Mbps on a single carrier capable of supporting two 45Mbps multiplexed videos, a recommended rate for HD contribution links.
