Spanish Television obtains eight awards, of the 31 for which it was nominated, while Antena 3 and Cuatro achieve three each. Telecinco and La Sexta managed to take an award to their respective showcases. Concha Velasco has received recognition from the Academy of Television Sciences and Arts with the award for Lifetime Achievement.

Juan Ramón Lucas and Julia Otero have been in charge of hosting the gala of the 11th Annual Awards of the Academy of Television Sciences and Arts held tonight at the Gran Casino of Aranjuez. A ceremony broadcast on TVE's La 2 that has been somewhat lackluster due to the numerous technical and production errors despite the false live broadcast in which it was broadcast with a delay of half an hour. Directed and produced by Simón Stern, it was executive produced by Pepe Carbajo, produced by Paco Amescua, lit by Ángel Blanco, set by David Bello and script by Carlos Torres.

Spanish Television, which started with about 31 candidates, has finally achieved eight, becoming the great winner of the night. Antena 3 and Cuatro have won three awards each, while Telecinco and La Sexta have only won one statuette per channel for their citrines. As usual, Tell Me How It Happened once again swept the screen, winning four of its eleven nominations.

But the real star of the night was the actress and presenter Concha Velasco, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award granted by the Academy. During the award ceremony, the Minister of Culture, Angeles González-Sinde, highlighted her enthusiasm and dedication to her profession. Velasco wanted to highlight that there have been very few women recognized with this award, taking advantage of the occasion to vindicate the role of women on television.

During the ceremony, the Academy also wanted to grant, for the first time in its history, a 2008 International Recognition Award, which in this case went to the Guatemalan reporter, Sergio Sánchez, for his social commitment to the scourge of gender violence in that country, in which 722 women died last year. The television journalist works for the news program Noti7 on Channel 7 of Radio Televisión Guatemala. In recent years, she has carried out research and denunciation work that highlights feminicide in that country, a complex and deep-rooted problem due to which two women die every day in Guatemala.
