Last night, the Kinépolis cinemas in La Ciudad de la Imagen in Madrid hosted the nineteenth edition of the Iris Awards, awarded annually by the Academy of Television Sciences and Arts. Throughout a surreal ceremony from both a technical and script point of view, the institution presented these awards that in most categories are voted on by academics but that also include in others the verdict of a jury formed on this occasion by Montse Abbad, Carmen Domínguez, Blanca Vives, Beatriz Maesso, Valentín Carrera, Rafael Galán and Helena Resano.

In widely distributed awards, the Atresmedia TV group has been the most awarded, collecting a total of six awards. The series The Money Heist (script) and the live ending of Velvet (realization) have been recognized by academics. The Anthill (production) has taken the award for best direction and Your face sounds familiar to me the one with the best program. Matías Prats has received the award for best news presenter. The jury also awarded an Iris to the documentary broadcast by LaSexta, Astral directed by Jordi Évole.

Blanca Portillo has received the best actress award for her role in the Telecinco series I know who you are while Hugo Silva has been recognized for his performance in the Ministry of Time, from TVE. The popular Onza series has also won the award for best fiction.

Among the prizes awarded by the jury of experts, highlighting the award from Javier Salmones for his brilliant photography work in the series Queens (TVE).

Xavier Sardá

Xardá, Lifetime Award

The 2017 Iris Todo una Vida Award, the Institution's highest award, wanted to recognize this year the career of the journalist and communicator Xavier Sardá.

Graduated in Information Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, ​​Sardá began his journalistic career as a music chronicler in newspapers such as Catalunya Express, Avui, El Noticiero Universal or Mundo Diario. In his beginnings at RNE he created his popular character of Mr. Casamajor.

On television he has presented programs such as child's play (TVE, 1990), Hey your videos 2 (FORTA, 1992-1993), Betes in films (TV3), All for the audience (TV3), We are all human (Antenna 3, 1996), Moors and Christians (Telecinco, 1997), Martian Chronicles (Telecinco, 1997-2005) or Dutifrí (Telecinco, 2007). Currently, he collaborates as a member of various debate spaces.
