Barco has already exceeded the figure of a thousand projection systems for digital cinema in China, a market in which it has entered with GDC Technology, providing comprehensive turnkey solutions to exhibitors. Since announcing their partnership in March 2007, both companies have worked on successful projects, and continue on that path. Recently, larger deals were announced with major exhibitors such as Jinyi, Hengdian and China Film Group, with a total of more than 200 digital projectors.

Barco's digital cinema projectors are based on DLP Cinema technology, developed by Texas Instruments, guaranteeing perfect reproduction of cinema content, and ensuring an experience with the best image quality for viewers. "China is one of the fastest growing film markets in the world, making us proud to be part of this transition to digital. Barco has a long-term commitment to the digital cinema market and has made efforts in China. We greatly value the work of our partners and our customers," acknowledged Frank Christiaens, president of Barco in China.

Barco's history with China arguably began in 2006 with a landmark deal signed with Dadi Digital Cinemas. Today it already has 80% of the market in the Asian country. One of the aspects that its clients in this country value most is the modular design of its projectors and the use of standard lamps.
