Lorenzo Milá says goodbye to the Telediario
After five years at the helm of TVE's Telediario 2, Lorenzo Mila says goodbye until September when he will take over as the public correspondent in the US capital. Milá leaves TD-2 as a benchmark for the 2008-2009 season with an average of 1,709,000 viewers and a screen share of 17.6%.
"Thank you as always for sharing this moment of information and many others during these five years. See you in Washington with more news. Surely some good ones." With these words Lorenzo Milá has said goodbye to the second edition of Telediario, which he has presented since September 2004.
During these five years he has imprinted his particular approach and style on TD-2, for which he was awarded last June with the Television Academy Award for best News anchor in 2008, an award that he also collected six years ago, on the eve of leaving for the Washington correspondent, at which time he returns. During these years, Lorenzo Milá has had the opportunity to interview great personalities from different fields exclusively at TD-2. The most recent, the one he made last Tuesday to the tennis player Rafael Nadal, who spoke about his long-awaited return to the courts.
Lorenzo Milá leaves TD-2 as the winner of the 2008-2009 season in the night slot. With one day left until the end of the month of July, TD-2 accumulates an average of 1,709,000 viewers and a screen share of 17.6%, leading by almost 180,000 viewers over its immediate follower, Telecinco news.
With its incorporation as a correspondent in Washington, TVE reinforces its commitment to the largest network of correspondents in the entire Spanish television panorama: seventeen correspondents.
Last June, when the replacement at the head of TD-2 was announced, Lorenzo Milá expressed his recognition of the work of the TVE management "in favor of more independent Newscasts than ever" and explained the reasons for this change. "TVE is my home. I don't change my house, or my colleagues. I'm just moving to another space. Washington is, simply, a place where I will be closer to what happens in a center of political decision-making, but also on the street, which is what I really want to do now. I want to regain contact with the people and their problems," he declared.
Pepa Well, in September
During this month of August, David Cantero will be in charge of taking charge of TD-2 every day and with the beginning of the new season, starting in September, Pepa Bueno will take the reins of the second edition of Telediario, the news program where the news of each day will be delved into.
TVE's News Newscasts have been leaders for 23 months in the global count from Monday to Sunday in the afternoon and evening editions.
