Anton Bauer Management System: full control over the battery
Anton Bauer will present to the European market at IBC'09 its Management System (BMS-AB) capable of offering the user in real time all the information on charge, temperature, voltage and accumulated memory effect of any battery in relation to a specific camera model.
With the aim that the camera operator always has completely reliable information about his battery, Anton Bauer presented his new Management System (AB-BMS) at NAB'09. Now it will present it to the European market at IBC'09. The AB-BMS streamlines battery maintenance protocols, while continually presenting critical information to the camera operator. The program receives information from the battery and automatically opens a file based on the battery serial number and manufacturing date, storing all data related to the battery in order to constantly keep track of usage. By storing this data, the battery management software notifies the user, even by email, when the battery approaches 60 or 70 percent of its nominal capacity.
Joe Murtha, Anton Bauer, director of engineering at Anton Bauer, commented that "in many ENG operations always marked by the rush of news coverage, the only thing a camera operator should not worry about is whether the battery will let him down. Our new battery management system continuously provides the operator with accurate information on the charge as well as all the details related to the general health of the battery. The AB-SBA offers all the essential information about the battery and the interaction with the camera in particular, giving the operator complete confidence to work in a critical collection situation.”
Battery management software calculates the time a battery will provide for a given camcorder, based on a database that includes professional video cameras and their corresponding load in watts. The operator simply selects the camera model and the software automatically displays the run time of the installed battery. The operator can also enter additional camera specifications into the database. The system also provides other data such as the battery model and its serial number, temperature, voltage, its current capacity or the impact of the memory effect on it.
