New point for the Japanese-Brazilian standard in Argentina
Argentina will finally opt for the Brazilian adaptation of the Japanese ISDB-T standard. The agreement will be signed next weekend between Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva during the UNASUR Summit.
The Minister of Communications of Brazil, Hélio Costa, has stated that the Argentine Secretary of Communications, Lisandro Salas, has confirmed the decision that his country will finally adopt the Brazilian version SBTVD of the Japanese digital TV standard ISDB-T. This decision will be made public on the 28th during the UNASUR summit, which will be held in San Carlos de Bariloche through the signing of an agreement by Argentine President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and her Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva. The Argentine government will sign two agreements, one with the government of Japan and with the Brazilian government, creating a Council at the government level and a Consultative Forum for the private sector to monitor the implementation of the standard. This decision was finally adopted after several years of delay and tough negotiations by the Argentine industry with representatives of the American and European standards.
