Sony EVI-HD3V and EVI-HD7V: second generation of HD video conferencing
Although for now only for the Asian region, Sony has presented the second generation of high definition video conferencing systems for professional environments.
If in Europe we are still moving towards the first generation of high definition video conferencing, Sony is already advancing, although only for the Asian market, towards the second generation with two new devices designed to offer unparalleled quality with resolutions that reach 720p@60fps (the new EVI-HD3V model) and 1080p@60fps (the EVI-HD7V). Both devices are completely robotic and allow remote control with angles between -100º to +100º horizontally and -25º to +25º vertically.
Thanks to a 10x zoom, and its remote control via RS-232C, this system can also be used as a video surveillance camera in CCTV systems, distance education, broadcasting of concerts or sports... The system also supports DVI, Y/Pb/Pr and RGB connections.
Yoshikazu Hirano, general manager and head of Sony's Asia-Pacific Business Enterprise Communications division, said: “With these new devices, Sony revalidates the position as a leader in high-definition technology that it had first achieved with the highly successful EVI-HD1 system in 2007. Today, in response to the growing demand in Asia-Pacific for high-definition solutions, especially for video conferencing purposes, Sony has launched the second generation of HD all-in-one robotics with a “very low noise level in the pan/tilt mechanism, maintaining the ease of use and flexibility it offers to its users.”
