The person who will be the new president of the RTVE Corporation stated in his appearance before the Congressional Appointment Advisory Commission that "more money is necessary to be in High Definition and I am not willing to lack it. They can take away my salary but they have to give me that and I hope that Parliament will help me get it."

Alberto Oliart"I do not hide that I am going to lack money, and the vice presidents of the Government are the ones who have to open the channel of that money for me (...). More money is necessary to be in high definition and I am not willing to lack it. They can take my salary but they have to give it to me and I hope that Parliament helps me get it," Alberto Oliart was so blunt yesterday before the Advisory Commission on Appointments of Congress.

The former minister and future president of the RTVE Corporation clearly explained to the parliamentarians some of the lines of his project, announcing that he will request the modification of the Corporation's financing law, approved last July to suppress advertising. Oliart reiterated in his appearance that “there is going to be a lack of money” for, among other things, high definition. “You have to fire me if I don't get that money, but I will censure you if you don't help me get it,” he warned their lordships.

Will maintain equipment

Regarding possible readjustments, Oliart clarified that he will maintain Luis Fernández's team, whom he defined as “a technical phenomenon in audiovisuals and a real person,” and added that, if it is up to him, no RTVE worker “will go on unemployment.”
Alberto Oliart wants to preserve the current quality of TVE, “and if possible improve it” as his first objective. Among its challenges is the improvement of the International Channel, the new Cultural Channel and being up to date on the technical innovations that have to be carried out due to the analog blackout.

On Tuesday of next week he will be voted by the Plenary Session of the Chamber as advisor and president of RTVE.
