More HD on Sport TV, without tapes, with Quantel
The Portuguese pay sports platform Sport TV increases its high definition broadcasting thanks to its new tapeless work environment based on Quantel Enterprise sQ servers.
More than four hundred hours of high definition material storage housed in an Enterprise sQ with direct connection to numerous sQ View and sQ Cut stations for journalists as well as three eQ and sQ Edit Plus suites make up the work scheme that Quantel has just implemented in the Portuguese pay sports channel Sport Tv. Thanks to this new infrastructure, Sport TV is able to broadcast all its programs in high definition in a completely tapeless, agile and 100% collaborative environment.
The choice of an Enterprise sQ storage system from Quantel is due to the concern of Sport TV managers to find a solution that would ensure the scalability of the system, thus responding to the continuous growth that the channel is currently experiencing and that which is expected in the coming years with the coverage of new sporting events such as the Sagres League or the Champions League. Sport Tv also covers other sporting events such as Formula One, rugby, tennis or basketball.
Sports Tv
Sport Tv was born in Portugal in 1998 with its first sports channel covering all types of national and international competitions, positioning itself since then as the reference in sports in the Portuguese country. Since the 2004/2005 season, it began to broadcast four Portuguese League matches every week as well as all Benfica Sporting and FC Porto matches, acquiring all national and international rights to the main Portuguese championship. In addition to the Portuguese league, Sport TV also broadcasts the English, Spanish and Italian leagues.
It also has all the rights to other competitions such as the Champions League, Euroleague, Torneo Libertadores, Copa América, European Championship, World Cup and Club World Cup.
Its second channel, Sport Tv2, was born in June 2006, launching its third premium channel two years later (the latter aimed at a younger and female audience with diversified programming).
A year ago it launched the first 100% high definition Portuguese channel, Sport Tv HD. Now, given the increasing number of hours of rights that Sport Tv is signing, the Portuguese channel is currently preparing the launch in 2010 of two new channels in high definition, planning for 2012 to broadcast 100% in HD on all its channels. Thanks to Quantel systems, Sport TV ensures that it can carry out this transition, broadcasting in SD, HD or both simultaneously without any setback on any of its channels.
