Orbita Max delays the 3D premiere of 'Magical Journey to Africa'
The most anticipated 3D Spanish production in recent years, whose premiere was scheduled for February 12, is forced to delay its launch until April due to the overwhelming success of 'Avatar' and the small number of theaters prepared for stereoscopic projection that exist at this time.
Given the extraordinary success of Avatar and the consequent lack of 3D theaters at this time, Órbita Max has been forced to delay the release date of Magical Trip to Africa, initially scheduled for February 12, until an as yet undetermined date in April.
Magical Trip to Africa, written and directed by Jordi Llompart, is the first fiction feature film shot entirely in stereoscopic 3D to be produced in Spain and Europe, and after four years of production and conscientious post-production work carried out by Apuntolapospo, it is ready for its release in digital 3D theaters, IMAX cinemas and conventional theaters.
The film tells the journey of a girl to Africa, carried away by magic, imagination and the dreams she shares with a bushman boy. It stars Leonor Watling, Verónica Blume, Adrià Collado and the children Eva Gerretsen and Raymond Mvula. The film was shot with the latest stereoscopic 3D capture and post-production techniques. Produced by Órbita Max, a company founded by Llompart himself, Invercartera, Apuntolapospo, Inverpyme, Més Films and Televisió de Catalunya have participated as co-producer partners and investors.
Órbita Max has assigned the national and international distribution rights of the film for digital and conventional cinemas to Filmax, while Órbita Max holds the distribution rights for large format cinema (IMAX) together with the American company Giant Screen Films.
From Órbita Max and Filmax they consider that this delay in the release of the film will be beneficial since it is expected that in the coming months many of the exhibitors will considerably increase the number of 3D theaters since, as expected, the premiere of Avatar It has been a definitive boost to this technology.
