Autodesk has announced the latest versions of its Digital Entertainment Creation for 3D modeling, animation, effects, rendering, compositing, digital sculpture and 3D drawing. The 2011 versions offer new features and enhancements that help speed up workflows and improve interoperability.

In order to help artists and professionals make the most of their creativity and optimize their productivity, Autodesk has just released the latest versions of its Digital Entertainment Creation for 3D modeling, animation, effects, rendering, compositing, digital sculpture and 3D drawing. Coinciding with this release, Autodesk has also introduced new versions of Autodesk Kynapse and Autodesk HumanIK game development middleware software, designed to improve ease of use.

Autodesk Maya 2011: a Maya, more value.

At the end of last summer Maya 2010 changed its image. Maya 2011 software offers several innovations. It features a revitalized customizable user interface, improved tools for character animation including non-destructive live retargeting, high-performance display of large scenes in the display, new 3D editorial capabilities for pre-visualization and virtual production workflows, integrated color management, resource structures for workflow connectivity, and improved rotoscoping. Additionally, Maya 2011 is now available for Snow Leopard, the 64-bit Mac OS X operating system.

Autodesk 3ds Max 2011: Break the rendering barrier

3ds Max 2011 offers a powerful new node-based material editor, the most requested feature by 3ds Max users, and high-quality hardware rendering that delivers production results nearly 10 times faster than traditional rendering techniques on common graphics cards. It also offers a fully-featured, high dynamic range compositing system based on Autodesk Toxik technology, as well as enhanced tools and workflows for creating and texturing models, animated characters, and interactive image viewing, which help significantly increase productivity.

Autodesk MotionBuilder 2011: now integrates more easily into production pipelines

Offering significantly improved interoperability with Maya 2011 and 3ds Max 2011, MotionBuilder 2011 now integrates more reliably and seamlessly into production workflows. Skinning and blendshape warps are now calculated in the graphics processing unit (GPU) for better performance. The embedded visualization experience is significantly more interactive and playback is much faster, in addition to enhancing the software's capabilities as a real-time virtual production system.

Autodesk FBX 2011: Easier Connection

Autodesk FBX 2011 asset sharing technology facilitates higher fidelity data exchange between Autodesk software and certain third-party applications. The open format offers new support for additional third-party and first-party applications. Additionally, game developers using Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3 will be able to import FBX files directly into Unreal Editor. Developers can now use the Python programming language to integrate FBX technology into non-C++-based pipelines.

These new products will also be available as part of Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suites, giving artists and production companies access to a wide variety of creative toolkits at significant cost savings. The suites offer a choice of Maya 2011 or 3ds Max 2011 and include real-time character animation software MotionBuilder 2011, as well as digital sculpting and 3D drawing software Mudbox 2011.
