Final stretch for the blackout

Throughout this Holy Week, more than 20 million Spaniards in 2,186 municipalities will stop receiving the analog signal, which will mean the definitive transition to DTT for 43% of the population.

Next Good Friday, television as we have conceived it in the last half century, will disappear forever from our country, thus fulfilling the National Technical Plan for the Transition to Digital Terrestrial Television. Between today and tomorrow they will turn off some of the most strategic analog centers on the network, such as Mijas (Málaga), Burgos, Chinchilla (Albacete), Lleida Norte, Córdoba, Guadalcanal (Seville), Parapanda, Sierra Almadén, Valencina de la Concepción (Seville), La Mancha, Collserola (Barcelona), Montánchez (Cáceres) and Torrespaña (Madrid).

Throughout this Holy Week, more than twenty million people from 2,186 municipalities will experience the most critical blackout, since it affects more than 43% of the population, since the Transition Plan began. Although the initial plan had established the shutdown of key centers such as Collserola, Valencina de la Concepción or Torrespaña on April 3, coinciding with the festive long weekend, the Ministry of Industry finally chose to bring it forward to tomorrow, March 30 and thus prevent those furthest behind from being unable to buy, as the establishments are closed, a set-top-box when they realize that they have been left without signal. This latest blackout will affect ten projects and 16.5 million people.
