Jerome Berrard, previously responsible for the PPDE Division (Professional Projectors and Displays Europe), has recently assumed the position of director of the new Panasonic Avse business unit in which the Broadcast areas and professional projectors are integrated under the same umbrella. Berrard explained to Panorama Audiovisual on the occasion of NAB 2010 what this reorganization in Panasonic Marketing Europe consists of.

After the departure of the Spanish Jaume Rey of the European Directorate of the Professional Broadcast business unit (PBITS), Panasonic Marketing Europe has taken advantage of this transit to remodel its structure of business areas for making them more practices and close to their client. For this, he has created a new unit called AVSE that will group under the same umbrella both the Broadcast division and professional projectors.

As for the Professional Audio and Video Business Unit (PAVCSE), it will also be altered with this restructuring. In this way, both Broadcast's product lines and company projectors will join under the AV Systems Europe (AVSE) division while the Visual Professional Displays Europe (PVDE) division will manage the company's business for professional applications for the company.

The new head of Panasonic Av Systems Europe (AVSE), will be the Frenchman Jerome Berrard, who until now had been in charge of the PPDE division (Professional Projectors and Displays Europe).

In an interview with Audiovisual Panorama, Berrard has recognized that this reorganization will “strengthen the service to our client, centralizing the service for memory units in Cardiff, the United Kingdom”.

"This organization will allow us to strengthen several points such as customer service. We have a stronger customer service center for projectors and we will also use it for the repair of our cameras," said Berrard, who says that “Broadcast products will continue to be repaired by our Broadcast specialist engineers, which are part of the internal staff and dedicated to Panasonic”.

Panasonic will maintain without any change its repair service in five days although the repair facilities will move from Germany to the United Kingdom “since there we have a repair center that is currently serving our personal computers, video projectors and many other consumption products. In this repair workshop we will have our own Call Center and a user interface fully based on IT will allow us to serve our client with better attention.”

In this interview, Jerome Berrard also reviews some of the latest trends within Panasonic such as the launch of the First Professional Four-Third Chamber (AG-AF100) and analyzes some current phenomena such as the ‘stereomania’ that NAB 2010 or the proliferation of AVCHD coding, among other issues, has invaded.
