Juan Manuel Gozalo Award from Radio Deportiva
The Spanish Academy of Radio Instura the “Juan Manuel Gozalo Sports Award”, tribute to the sports journalist who was vice president of this institution who died on April 11.
The Academy of Arts and Radio Sciences of Spain has made public the establishment of a prize dedicated to the sports journalist, recently deceased, Juan Manuel Gozalo. The announcement occurred on Tuesday on the occasion of the call of the 2010 National Radio Awards.
In the words of the president of the Academy, Jorge Álvarez, the establishment of this award represents a tribute who was vice president of this institution, for having been one of the most beloved and recognized professionals in the field of radio and sport in Spain.
In the press conference, the academic Félix Gallardo made a semblance of the figure of Gozalo, the result of great knowledge, for having been his boss and partner for years on national radio. Gallardo gave the floor to Adela Gozalo, daughter of Juan Manuel, who delivered a words of thanks to the academy, interrupted by emotion, being still very close to her father's disappearance.
Juan Manuel Gozalo died on April 11 at age 65, because of cancer, when he was still in full professional activity.
