The award, which recognizes professionals who have stood out in radio and television, will be presented on February 13 during the Radio Academy Awards.

The Academy of Television Sciences and Arts and the Spanish Academy of Radio have unanimously decided to award the Joaquín Soler Serrano Prize for Radio and Television to Concha García Campoy for her outstanding professional career in both media.

This was announced this Tuesday at a press conference by the Honorary President of the Radio Academy, Luis del Olmo, who congratulated the winner, pointing out that "behind a smile there is strength and behind that strength there is worth. To talk about Concha García Campoy is to talk about strength, smile and worth. If she is not the journalist with the most credibility in the press, radio and television, she is not missing much." Del Olmo also recalled an anecdote shared with the maestro Soler Serrano, who is honored with this joint radio and television award: "Joaquín made images with his phrases. He was a monster of communication and this award has a special force."

The President of the Television Academy, Manuel Campo Vidal, was pleased that the two academies had agreed on the name of Concha García Campoy for this second edition of the Joaquín Soler Serrano Award and highlighted that both had a very special bond: "Concha was one of the girls affected by the Vallés floods of 1962, whose victims Soler Serrano so masterfully helped from the radio microphone. She later had the opportunity to interview him for this medium and they were both excited when he discovered that the person who was interviewing him was one of the survivors of that tragedy.”

In this edition the jury, chaired by Ana Pilar Ruiz (Widow of Joaquín Soler Serrano), was made up of: Luis del Olmo, Manuel Campo Vidal, Jorge Álvarez (Executive President of the Spanish Radio Academy), Primitivo Rojas (Member of the Spanish Radio Academy), Carles Marín (Member of the Television Academy) and Valentín Carrera (Member of the Television Academy).

The Award named after maestro Joaquín Soler Serrano, established in 2011 by the Academy of Television Sciences and Arts and the Academy of Radio Arts and Sciences of Spain, recognizes professionals who have stood out for their work in Radio and Television. In its first edition, the award went to journalist Iñaki Gabilondo.

The award, the work of sculptor Ricardo González Gil, will be presented on February 13, coinciding with International Radio Day, at the Mira Theater in Pozuelo de Alarcón during the Radio Academy Awards Ceremony.
