The jury has agreed to posthumously award the National Award to Concha García Campoy “in recognition of the pioneering significance of her professional career, as well as the excellence and broad impact of her work, a beacon and example for future generations of television professionals.”

The jury has agreed to posthumously award the National Award to Concha García Campoy “in recognition of the pioneering significance of her professional career, as well as the excellence and broad impact of her work, a beacon and example for future generations of television professionals.” Likewise, the Jury highlights the independence, elegance and model of self-improvement reflected in his career.” The prize is worth 30,000 euros.

Concha García Campoy (Tarrasa, 1958 – Valencia, 2013) was a journalist and radio and television presenter who began her professional career in 1979 in a radio program on Cadena Cope in Ibiza. A year later, he obtained a degree in journalism from the Faculty of Information Sciences of Barcelona and, in 1984, he joined RTVE after passing the public examinations. Here he began his training in the channel's news services, first in the Balearic Islands and then in Madrid.

Since leaving RTVE in 1987, he went through different media where he alternated his activity on the radio with some work for television. Since September 2006 he was a member of the board of directors and spokesperson for the Academy of Television Sciences and Arts, and until January 2012 he directed and presented the morning news edition on Telecinco.

García Campoy was awarded the Ondas Award, the Golden Microphone and several Golden Antennas, among others.

Jury

The jury was chaired by Teresa Lizaranzu, general director of Policy and Cultural and Book Industries, and Faustino Díaz, deputy general director of Promotion of Cultural Industries and Patronage, acted as vice president. The other members of the jury were Carmen Castañón Jiménez, director of the Cabinet of the Secretary of State for Culture; Manuel Campo Vidal, president of the Academy of Television Sciences and Arts; Manuel Villanueva, general director of Content at Mediaset España; Jesús Andreu, director of the Carolina Foundation and former director of the Spanish Radio Television Corporation; María Luisa García de Cortázar, Professor at the National University of Distance Education, expert in research from a gender perspective; and Milagros Ayllón, journalist appointed by Jesús Hermida, awarded in the 2012 edition.
