Digital Audio Denmark announces AX24 192 PHD

Digital Audio Denmark, currently a NTP Technology group company, has announced the AX24 192 PHD DAD, a new version of the AX24 high-end audio converter, allowing direct connection to Avid ProTools HD systems.

Until now, the integration of the AX24 with ProTools HD was carried out through the DAD I/O HD interface from Digital Audio Denmark, which incorporates DigiLink and MADI connections, or through an AES/EBU connection through the Digidesign 192 I/O units. Now, the new AX24 192 PHD DAD unit from Digital Audio Denmark features an interface card with two DigiLink slots that allow direct connection to Avid Digidesign Pro Tools HD systems.

Designed for use in situations where the highest possible recording quality is required, the AX24 192 PHD converter supports sample rates from 44.1 to 192 kHz, and can optionally include high-quality, hardwired, “transparent” microphone preamplifier channels.

The AX24 192 PHD automatically provides identical signal latency to Avid's 192 I/O audio converter for exact delay compensation within Pro Tools, eliminating the need to manually adjust the delay.

One of the main features of the AX24 192 PHD converter is the “very high” precision of its master clock, which allows Pro Tools users to work with very low levels of jitter and distortion of digital signals.

The new AX24 192 PHD is available in configurations with 8 analog input and output channels, or with only 8 inputs, or only 8 analog outputs, and is managed through the DADMAN application that runs on Mac OS X and Windows. The DADMAN application can manage up to 128 DAD conversion channels, and can be automated from Avid Pro Tools or via EuCon to operate with Euphonix MC-Pro and 5-MC control consoles.
