On Sunday night, Telecinco recorded its best prime time in the network's history with a 73.9% share. The Spanish private channel registered 14,582,000 viewers and an 80.3% share, only behind the penalties against Italy in the Euro Cup (15,372,000 and 77.5%).

Both the match (12.96 million viewers and 77.2%) and the trophy presentation (12.46 million and 70.4%) are also among the twenty most viewed broadcasts of all time.

The golden minute occurred at 10:56 p.m. when Iniesta scored the goal that gave Spain the victory. At the time of the awarding of the cup to the Spanish team, almost thirteen million Spaniards were crowded in front of the Telecinco screen, which represented a share of 72%. Sunday's game was the best post-game in the history of Telecinco (7,824,000 and 54.6%) and a complete success in the previous space (3,224,000 and 27.3%).

More than 700 million worldwide

FIFA estimates that this Sunday there was a record audience for a sporting event. More than 700 million people watched the match between Spain and the Netherlands, surpassing the approximately 600 who watched the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

FIFA has used more accurate methods than four years ago to calculate audience and follow-up estimates in a hundred countries.
