Apple has just introduced its new 27-inch LED Cinema Display monitor with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and 60 percent more usable screen space than the 24-inch model. It includes an iSight video camera, microphone and speakers, a powered USB 2.0 hub, and a universal MagSafe connector.

It integrates a 16:9 format screen, with edge-to-edge glass, mounted on an aluminum support with an adjustable joint that allows the monitor to be tilted effortlessly. The LED Cinema Display offers vivid colors, exceptionally high contrast and uses display technology called in-plane switching (IPS) to deliver brilliant images with a very wide viewing angle of up to 178 degrees.

The new LED Cinema Display now includes a new ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the screen's brightness based on external lighting conditions, using only the energy necessary to ensure an optimal viewing experience. Manufactured with mercury-free LED technology, arsenic-free glass and highly recyclable materials, the LED Cinema Display meets the demanding Energy Star 5.0 requirements and achieves the EPEAT Gold grade. The new display does not contain brominated flame retardants and all cables and components are PVC free.

It will be available in September.
