Great deployment of EVS technology at the Guangzhou Asian Games
Guangzhou Asian Games Broadcasting (GAB), the host broadcaster of the XVI Asian Games that opens this November 12 in Guangzhou (China), will use numerous EVS systems in the broadcast, including multi-camera recording, live replays and media collection and editing for the numerous summaries. Guangzhou Asian Games Broadcasting will use 46 mobile units in these games, 28 of them in HD.
Guangzhou Asian Games Broadcasting (GAB), the host broadcaster of the XVI Asian Games that opens this November 12 in Guangzhou (China), will use numerous broadcast systems in broadcasting. EVS, including multi-camera recording, live replays, and compilation and editing for the numerous recaps. The different production and post-production teams, made up of professionals from around twenty Chinese television stations, coordinated by GAB will use a total of 130 SD/HD servers from EVS.
More than fifty locations will be equipped with the latest technology from the Belgian company to cover a total of 476 events in 46 different disciplines in which 10,000 athletes from 45 countries will participate.
In addition to the fixed venues, EVS has installed equipment in several mobile CCTV units, the chain that will support the opening and closing ceremonies and some notable competitions in a dozen sports such as athletics, tennis, archery, gymnastics and basketball. For this purpose, CCTV will have 23 EVS XT2 servers.
For its part, Guangdong TV will provide technical support for football and rugby competitions, while Shanghai TV will be in charge of producing athletics and tennis. Guangzhou together with CCTV with the host broadcaster of these games at the opening ceremony.
In total, Guangzhou Asian Games Broadcasting, in collaboration with the different local broadcasters, will use 46 mobile units in these games, 28 of them in high definition. Around 130 EVS XT servers will be the heart of the more than 2,500 hours of HD broadcasts that will occur during the games. The XT2 servers controlled by the LSM remotes for live replays and on-the-fly editing, and the IP Director for network production and media management, including file management and editing orders, will be a fundamental piece during the two weeks of this sporting event.
Luc Doneux, director for major events at EVS, commented that "Chinese broadcasters have acquired strong technical capacity and important know-how in the production of directors as a result of their involvement during the 2008 Olympic Games. This allows them to offer live coverage with the highest quality for important sporting events, such as the Asian Games in Guangzhou. Both the host broadcaster and the Chinese television stations participating in this event have opted for EVS production technology in order to "Offer viewers the best possible experience in the different shows."
