Dygra Native Digital 3D: stereoscopy designed from the start
Dygra Films presents at FICOD 2010 its Dygra Native Digital 3D solution that guarantees a production designed and carried out from the first moment in stereoscopic. Its director, Manolo Gómez, denounces the existence of the proliferation of false 3D that "causes the frustration of the viewer, who does not see their expectations satisfied."
Dygra Films has been present at the International Forum on Digital Content (FICOD 2010), which was held this week in Madrid. Through a round table and a workshop, those responsible for the studios put on the table the role of stereoscopy in digital animation, based on their experience with the production of Holy Night!, the studios' fourth feature film, conceived from the beginning taking this technology into account.
The director of Dygra Films, Manolo Gómez, shared a table with heads of other production companies to review a year of animation. In this context, he demanded from public authorities a commitment to the industrial sector of digital content generation, a commitment to a “productive sector that works with ideas and talent.”
Likewise, Gómez highlighted stereoscopic 3D as a differential element that has meant a new revolution in cinema and that is now conditioning not only the production process, but also that of distribution. Regarding Dygra's fourth animated feature, whose production has just finished, he assured that "Holy Night! had a good offer for its release this Christmas in 400 theaters in 35 mm, but we want it to be in digital theaters, so we have had to go to 2011."
Manolo Gómez also emphasized the existence of a "false 3D", which is nothing more than converting a film conceived and made in two dimensions to 3D, "which causes frustration in the viewer, who does not see their expectations met. However, if a digital 3D film is good, it provides an immersive experience that makes it worth the higher cost of admission."
Finally, he made reference to the difficulties that the digital era brings, especially in the field of distribution, in which new avenues are opening up that are allowing large groups to enjoy absolute control of this process, leaving many independent producers out of theaters.
Taller-debate
In a workshop-debate held yesterday afternoon, Serxio Gómez and Juan Galiñanes presented Dygra Films' own label, Dygra Native Digital 3D, which guarantees a production designed and carried out from the first moment in stereoscopic 3D, as in the case of Holy Night!, of which they showed progress.
The evolution of stereoscopy and its application not only to cinema but also to advertising production focused the debate generated after the presentation.
