Grass Valley improves the performance of its T2 digital recorder

The Grass Valley T2 iDDR digital recorder and player will have new features included in Service Pack 3 aimed at improving usability and workflow efficiency. The new options for the T2 are: “T2 P2”, “T2 XDCAM” and “T2 Alpha”, there is also the “T2 PRO” that brings together the three packs.

The Grass Valley T2 iDDR digital recorder will have new features included in Service Pack 3 aimed at improving usability and workflow efficiency. The Grass Valley T2 iDDR is a next-generation recording and playback system that combines advanced non-linear features (frame-accurate direct access to material) and controls similar to any VTR. It has two playback channels and one recording channel, available simultaneously and independently, with 1920x1080 resolution support (24p/50i/59.94i) as well as 720p and 480i formats.

The new Service Pack 3 will provide T2 users the ability to export MXF (XDCAM format) thus gaining interoperability with non-Grass Valley editing software. The new options for the T2 are: “T2 P2”, “T2 XDCAM” and “T2 Alpha”, there is also the “T2 PRO” that brings together the three packs.

The T2 P2 option allows the T2 to natively play videos in the P2 MXF format, including DVCPRO HD and AVC-Intra directly from a P2 drive or external storage device, as well as the ability to import clips to the T2 in their original format, or encode the clip as a Grass Valley HQ file for a smoother user experience.

The T2 XDCAM option allows natural playback and transcoding of the following XDCAM MXF formats: XDCAM HD, XDCAM 422, XDCAM IMX and DVCAM. As with the P2 option, the
