Thomson Grass Valley reinforces its Infinity range, K2 servers and improves Edius
In addition to the Kayenne switcher, Thomson GVG has introduced the LDK 3000 camcorder and version 5.1 of its Edius non-linear editing solution.
In terms of coding systems, one of the most important innovations at this NAB has been the new generation of Vibe as a proposal for headends for contribution networks with rates below 30 Mbps with MPEG-4 AVC 4:2:2 signals.
K2, greater integration
With respect to the K2 servers, supporting up to twenty HD signals in real time from the server with up to a dozen simultaneous editors is now possible, without material transfers or transcoding, in those shared storage SAN networks in which Final Cut Pro-type editing stations are integrated with the Grass Valley servers. In recent times, Thomson GVG has been making a great effort to integrate its range of servers with the different editing systems, thus allowing automated transcoding of material and automation of ASI ingestions into contributions. Based on the content management capabilities of its MediaFrame software architecture and a high-definition editing platform, Thomson Grass Valley has created a manager called BaseCamp Express that allows you to manage content starting from a preconfiguration, with low-resolution and quickly accessible material. Nuevo Edius 5.1
Finally, note that Thomson Grass Valley has presented in Las Vegas the latest version 5.1 of Edius, its non-linear multi-format and multi-resolution editing package. Among its new advantages is greater integration with the Aurora digital production system, the possibility of partially downloading digital files from P2 cards or XDCAM discs, being able to edit the material quickly. Edius 5.1 also includes new audio management tools, more metadata functions and direct export to Blu-ray using encoding software or a Firecoder Blu H.264/MPEG-2 transcoder card. For those editors who do not need all the options offered by Edius 5.1, Grass Valley offers the possibility of working with the basic Edius Neo 2 package.
