The update, available free of charge to users of previous versions 6.xx, expands support for H.264 encoding and Edius NX, SP and HD hardware.

Grass Valley has announced the update of its non-linear editor to version 6.03, which will be distributed free of charge to registered users of previous versions 6.xx.

Edius 6.03 will now support importing 50p and 60p files used by Sony and JVC cameras, simplifying editing.

For users of the second generation of Core processors, Edius extends support for hardware acceleration in H.264 video encoding, complementing the AVCHD file acceleration, available since version 6.02.

This novelty will facilitate real-time video encoding for iPhone and PSP, as well as for H.264/AVC video with sizes up to 1920x1080 50/60p.

The new version will be available on the Grass Valley website starting in July.
