José Ramón Pérez Ornia, general director of Radiotelevision of the Principality of Asturias (RTPA), has informed the Board of Directors of the Public Communication Entity of the appointment of Ignacio Menéndez del Campo as director of News and Sports of TPA.
His appointment coincides with the reorganization of the TPA Noticias editorial team, a process that began about seven months ago with the configuration of permanent teams of news managers (morning, afternoon and weekend), and progressed with the organization of the editors into three sections: Asturias, National and International; Society and Culture, and Economy and Labor, and the corresponding appointment of three section heads. The reorganization process will be gradually expanded to achieve greater efficiency in working with the same human and economic resources, and a specialization of editors by thematic areas. In this way, the public entity seeks to improve the professionalization of writing.
Menéndez del Campo has a degree in Information Sciences from the Pontifical University of Salamanca and held the position of deputy director of Information and Sports of the network since November 1, 2009. From August 2007 until joining the network, Ignacio del Campo worked as Communications and Press advisor to the President of the Principality of Asturias, Vicente Álvarez Areces. The new director of News and Sports at TPA began his professional work in 1993 in La Nueva España, where he worked until 2007 as a correspondent for Siero, initially and, later, as an editor in the sections of Events and Courts, Environment, Counties, Asturias and Politics. Between 2002 and 2006 he worked in the Cuencas edition, as head of the Mieres delegation and until August 2007, he was editor of the Politics section.
