Ignacio Gómez-Acebo, dismissed as director of strategic planning at TVE

Gómez-Acebo was one of the few directors at the top of public radio and television who still remained in office from the time of Luis Fernández.

Ignacio Gómez-AceboThe until now director of Strategic Planning of Programming and Production of Spanish Television since last July, Ignacio Gómez-Acebo, has been removed from his position as communicated to the Board of Directors of the Corporation last Monday.

Gómez-Acebo was one of the few directors at the top of public radio and television who still remained in office from the time of Luis Fernández, the first president of the RTVE corporation elected by parliamentary consensus.

The dismissal occurred at the proposal of the director of TVE, José Ramón Díez, and would respond to differences in criteria when commissioning programs from certain external private production companies.

Ignacio Gómez-Acebo del Solar (Santander, 1962) is a television producer and has developed practically his entire professional career at RTVE, where he began to collaborate in 1981. In his first years he developed his activity in the TVE Program Area and in 1993 he became part of the Sports Area. He has participated in the production of nine Summer and Winter Olympic Games, World and European Championships in Football, Athletics, Basketball, Handball, Swimming, Futsal, etc. He was also part of the production teams for the UEFA Champions League and directed the production teams for the World Athletics Championships in Seville 1999 and the America's Cup in Valencia 2007.

He held the responsibilities of director of Sports Executive Production (2008-2009) and director of Sports (2009-2012). In 2013 he assumed the duties of Communication Director of the Madrid2020 Bid.
