The National Distance University of Costa Rica has chosen Broadcast Pix's Slate 1000 as the heart of its new mobile production unit for live programs and other educational spaces.
According to Alejandro Astorga, audiovisual producer at UNED, the new mobile unit is already being used in about five monthly productions, "producing a series of laboratory videos from the Department of Chemistry. In addition, we have recorded conferences and debates in our auditorium, as well as coverage of our XV International Congress of Distance Education and Technology in November. We have several projects in which the mobile unit will widely participate next year."
The new mobile unit has been designed by Sonivisión and has three cameras Sony with Canon lenses, plus a Mackie audio mixer. The video, produced in SD, is enriched with tools such as Fluent Multi-View and Clip Store, as well as Inscriber CG.
The Broadcast Pix system allows the University to use virtual multi-camera with chromakey. Designed for small studios or compact production trucks, the 1 M/E Slate 1000 features a control panel with four live inputs (expandable to eight) and four outputs (expandable to five), and its PixButtons tool allows you to display icons for different devices and file names. Additionally, the chromakey option offers exceptional performance for both blue and green backgrounds, allowing for smoother control with crisp cutouts.
