Cinema in Progress will promote six films from Mexico, Costa Rica, Chile, Uruguay and Argentina
Six films from Mexico, Costa Rica, Chile, Uruguay and Argentina will be presented at the Films in Progress days that will be held on September 22 and 23, during the next edition of the San Sebastián Festival.
A stone's throw (Mexico), by Sebastián Hiriart; cold sea water (Costa Rica-France), by Paz Fábrega; Lucia (Chile), by Niles Jamil Atallah; Norberto just late (Uruguay), de Daniel Hendler; Puzzle (Argentina-France), by Natalia Smirnoff and useful life (Uruguay), by Federico Veiroj, are the six films selected for the 16th edition of Cinema in Progress, the aid program for Latin American cinema carried out on a biannual basis by the San Sebastián Festival and the Rencontres Cinémas d'Amérique Latine in Toulouse.
Participation has doubled compared to last year's edition in San Sebastián. 115 projects from 21 countries have been received, compared to the 64 titles from 20 countries that were eligible for selection in 2008. Among those projects received, six films have been selected that will be able to obtain one of the awards that will help finish the productions.
At Cinemas in Construction 16 the following awards will be presented: Cinemas in Construction Industry Award. The companies Kodak (professional film division), Mediapro, Molinare Madrid, No Problem Sonido, Technicolor Entertainment Services Spain, and Titra Film will assume the post-production of a film until the 35mm copy subtitled in English; TVE Award, endowed with 60,000 euros and dedicated to the purchase of broadcasting rights for one of the selected films; and the Casa de América Award for Aid to Post-production of Latin American cinema, worth 10,000 euros gross.
In addition, Films in Progress films have access to international dissemination on the Cervantes Institute's global network.
