Bigas Luna and Enrique González Macho, candidates to replace Álex de la Iglesia in the Academy
Bigas Luna is running for president, escorted by actress Leonor Watling and production director Yosuaf Bokhari, and Enrique González Macho has the support of performer Marta Etura and director and screenwriter Judith Colell.
The electoral commission has proclaimed the two proposals that meet the requirements to replace Álex de la Iglesia in office, which are those headed by the filmmaker Bigas Luna and the distributor, exhibitor and producer Enrique González Macho. The members of the Film Academy will elect their president from two candidates.
Luna is running for president, escorted by actress Leonor Watling and production director Yosuaf Bokhari, and González Macho has the support of performer Marta Etura and director and screenwriter Judith Colell.
The deadline for submitting candidates closed on March 18, and on April 10, starting at 11:00 a.m., the elections will be held at the institution's headquarters during a General Assembly.
On March 24 and 25, the two presidential candidates will explain their program and their management vision of the Academy. Open to the media and academics, the first event will take place next Thursday, at 12:00 p.m., at the Madrid headquarters of the institution -Zurbano, 3-, where González Macho and Bigas Luna, in this order, will report on the lines of their program for this new stage. The second session will be held on Friday the 25th in Barcelona, at 11:00 a.m., at the SGAE Social Club -Pº de Colón, 6-, where Bigas Luna will speak first and then Enrique González Macho will speak.
