Enrique González Macho, new president of the Academy

The distributor, exhibitor and producer Enrique González Macho has been elected this Sunday as the new president of the Film Academy during the General Assembly that was held at the institution's headquarters.

The founder of Alta Films and owner of the Renoir cinemas, Enrique González Macho, takes over from Álex de la Iglesia, while the actress Marta Etura and the director and screenwriter Judith Colell, who ran with González Macho in the same candidacy, will occupy the positions of first and second vice presidents, respectively, replacing Icíar Bollaín and Emilio Pina.

The vote count and participation have closed with 256 votes for González Macho and 101 for Bigas Luna. Blank, 19 votes.

Enrique González Macho (Santander, 1947) has been head of production for numerous films –The heart of the forest y The trout, among others - and debuted in distribution with the purchase of the company Altafilms, with which it began to exhibit films in their original version.
