Harris will present three new products for TV broadcasting at NAB

Coinciding with NAB 2011, Harris Corporation will expand its catalog of solutions for terrestrial TV transmission with new products that address the current transition to the digital system and new value-added services. Among the new features, a compact Maxiva UAX transmitter stands out; the driver for IP and satellite receiver modules, Apex M2X; as well as a new range of transmitters for outdoor venues.

As for the Maxiva UAX, it is an air-cooled UHF television transmitter that provides terrestrial and mobile television operators with numerous options to increase their services. This equipment is ideal for expanding coverage in difficult situations, including urban areas that require greater penetration into buildings.

The Maxiva UAX belongs to the Harris family of transmitters that include translators/retransmitters and gap-fillers for single frequency networks (SFN) with features such as echo cancellation. In single frequency networks that require multiple synchronized transmitters, it offers a simple way to cover suburban or rural areas, mountainous or obstructed areas with shading problems.

All transmitters in the Maxiva family support a smooth transition to digital by supporting ATSC, ATSC-M/H, DVB-T/H, DVB-T2, FLO, ISDB-Tb, CMMB and CTTB.

In excitation technology, the Harris Apex M2X has a modular architecture that allows simple in-and-play expansion to drive new transmission solutions.

The new modules include an IP entry for ASI streams that makes it easier for the user to manage the interface, while keeping the existing backup ports in native ASI formats. The new DVB-S/DVB-S2 satellite receiver module, based on Harris' successful IRD products, allows broadcasters to download satellite content directly to the exciter without the need for any external devices.
