Brazil already has 102 stations with digital technology that reach 87.7 million people in 480 municipalities, the equivalent of 45.98% of the Brazilian population. The expectation is that Digital Terrestrial Television coverage in Brazil will even exceed the current analog coverage before 2016, the year in which Brazilian authorities hope to complete the analog transition.
Starting in April, the Brazilian regulator ANATEL will announce the gradual development of DTT, both in coverage, stations and population through its web.

On the other hand, ANATEL has opened a public consultation on alterations to the basic digital television plans (PBTVD) for the interior of the States of Amapá, Rondônia, Roraima, Pernambuco, Alagoas and Paraíba. This May, the proposals for PBTVD alterations for the interior of the States of Rio Grande do Sul, Pará and Tocatins will be submitted for evaluation by the societies. In June, the State Agency will place for public consultation the proposals for PBTVD alternations in the interior of Sergipe, Bahia, Paraná, Ceará and Rio Grande do Norte.

With these actions, the Agency will close this year the cycle of studies and action plans to bring digital television channels to all Brazilian municipalities. DTT began broadcasting in the city of São Paulo in December 2007, and is now present in most Brazilian capitals and within some administrative units of the Federation.
