According to a study presented by Media Salles at the Cannes Film Festival, the number of theaters equipped with DLP Cinema or SXRD technology at the end of 2010 in Europe amounted to 10,346, 120.9% more than the previous year. Digital rooms already account for 29% of the total.

Digital exhibition in Europe does not stop growing. A study presented by Media Salles coinciding with the Cannes Festival reveals that the number of digital theaters is growing at a rate of 120.9%, rising to 10,346, 29% of the total number of theaters on the Old Continent. Luxembourg with 73% of theaters already digitized, Belgium with 65%, the United Kingdom (38%), Russia (38%), France (34%), Germany (27%), Italy (23%) and Spain (19%) would lead the penetration figures for digital technology.

Regarding the average number of digital theaters per cinema complex, it ranges from 6.8 theaters in Belgium to 2.6 in Spain and Germany (2.2). Logically, the highest box offices in digital theaters are recorded in France (18.2%), the United Kingdom (13.6%), Germany (12.1%), Russia (9.1%), Italy (8.8%) and Spain (7.3%).

The number of digital cinema complexes in Europe at the end of December 2010 was 4,120, 74.1% more than in 2009. 33% of the complexes are digitally equipped, compared to 18.7% in 2009.
