Ukrainian broadcaster TRK has updated and expanded its infrastructure with the Artist digital intercom system from Riedel Communications. Riedel has thus installed a solution that combines the Artist intercom matrix with the Acrobat wireless communications solution. The Ukrainian integrator Comtel has been responsible for this installation.

For its two studios in kyiv and Donezk, TRK needed a flexible intercom solution capable of communicating with staff in each of these spaces and with each other from miles away. Additionally, TRK needed a wireless communications solution at its kyiv facility to integrate with its existing intercom system.

In kyiv, Riedel installed two Artists (128 mainframes) with plans to expand the system with additional arrays and ports to form a unified array of up to 1,024×1,024 ports.

Nine Artist 1000 and 37 Artist 2000 control panels have been installed in total in kyiv. The Artist 1000's secondary audio channel provides broadcast-quality digital audio, offering a significant benefit to feedback from production through control panels, for example.

The VoIP cards also provide VoIP connections for the Artist 32 remote installation in the TRK Donezk studio. The Artist 32 has replaced the old Artist M that was installed in Donezk a few years ago. Of note, the Artist control panels in Donezk are remotely connected to the Artist facility in kyiv via VoIP.

The Acrobat facility in kyiv provides wireless infrastructure for 13 beltpacks in total that are closely integrated into the Artist intercom system.
