TVI Portugal improves its communications with Riedel's Artist digital intercom
Artist allows TVI to manage communications in three studios connected by fiber and through IFB connections between different external locations.
The Artist digital intercom matrix of Riedel Communications is allowing TVI Portugal assume sophisticated communications during the production of its news and sports and entertainment spaces.
Easily managed by a small team at TVI, the new Artist system has been installed as part of a modernization of the entire facility and works seamlessly with the existing system to enable communications across three studios connected by fiber and via IFB connections to different external locations.
Carlos Gomes, head of technical operations at TVI, highlights that "Riedel really understood what we wanted and helped us squeeze everything possible out of the Artist system. Working closely with Riedel and the company's local integrator, AvanTools“We have implemented a truly elegant intercom solution, a Ferrari designed by a team known for its performance and reliability.”
TVI offers live news and numerous live coverages of many different sports (football, roller hockey, handball...). Recently, the Portuguese broadcaster has modernized its facilities to better support these and other live productions, opting for Riedel technology after exhaustive market research.
Riedel's Artist system has been implemented in TVI studios dedicated to news, virtual production and entertainment, and the three areas are connected by centrally and dynamically managed IFBs and mix-minus with 2x39 simultaneous direct inputs with three different consoles (direct outputs and mix minus) being used to create feeds.
Time optimization
By working with this Artist configuration, TVI staff in both audio control and master control can take advantage of time-saving features, including presets that recall snapshots of the most frequently used system configurations.
Artist not only simplifies the management of fiber lines between studios, but also works as an audio router, equipped with automation functions for all 48 VoiP lines that facilitate guest interventions and live contributions.
The first major test of Artist on TVI took place during the coverage of the general elections in Portugal in which 37 concurrent IFBs were used from different points in the country.
As it expands its channel offerings in Portugal and beyond, the brocaster plans to continue modernizing and upgrading its communications capabilities with new deployments of Riedel equipment.
Maribel Román, sales director for southern Europe, emphasizes that "this project at TVI really shows the power and flexibility of Artist's communication ecosystem. With a client who knows exactly what they want, Riedel's technical staff and integration partners who are intimately familiar with the capabilities of the platform... almost anything is possible."
